Glossary
Introduction
- The Prince
Principle Suggests a
beginning on how to bring both sides of the issues together onto the one
side, and in the real world, not fantasy land.
- Superheroes: A different take on the idea
that we are all capable of so much more and a substantial section
targeted at our existing billionaires.
- Extrahyoidic
Oratorious Jactitation: Communication is a problem in this world and this chapter
suggests, with a touch of humour, that it is preferable to use words
that everybody can understand, rather than try to prove how smart we
are.
- Technology Intro:
There are a half a
dozen superior alternative energy technologies out in the mainstream
already that are acknowledged by the scientific community as valid;
commercial viability is their problem for right now. This chapter
suggests a path towards a Manhattan Style Project for Alternative
Energies.
- The Technology
Curve:A very
entertaining abstract on our relative stage of technological development
as a species. This is my favourite chapter.
- Technology
Directions: Discusses
the history of the relationship between our technological and
sociological development.
- The Technology
Phantasy: This is a
very big chapter and one that will be most people's favourite. It is
likely that this chapter and the next will make the most noise. Exactly
what is contained in this chapter is something to be seen in full,
rather than précised.
- The Technology Reality: A lot of new unrevealed technology is overviewed in this chapter, including several very valuable tech secrets.
- Choose One: A reflection on the two
opposing sides in politics and a few quotes to illustrate the points
being made.
- A Novel Idea:
This is the second
chapter on politics and just like chapter seven, exactly what is
contained in this chapter is something to be seen in full, rather than
précised.
- The New
Renaissance: How the
Information Age is affecting our intellectual abilities and spiritual
ideals and talks about how we can handle the change.
- We Are Our Own
Masters: An abstract
on behaviour and just how much conscious control we have over our own
destiny.
- The Fantasy of
War: This chapter is a brief fiction based on a story idea called The Million Kings. It is intended to illustrate the many elements of war as it really is rather than the hero fantasy so many believe it to be.
- The Real World:
An examination of the
next 50 years in global politics; there are certain macro occurrences
that are reasonably easy to predict. This chapter also contains the
outline for some of the suggested changes for The United Nations.
- The Future of War:
A very short chapter
to reinforce the point of the absolute need for a strong United Nations
heading into the next 50 years.
- The Future of
Capitalism: One way or
the other, the current form of capitalism has a limited lifespan and
this chapter elaborates on what this statement means.
- Intellectual Vs
Militaristic: Again
this is all about politics, and which is the best direction for us to be
heading.
- Feminism as a
Solution: This chapter
is on the future impact of women on society and I seriously doubt that
anybody would've ever put it quite like this before.
- Pop Culture: A brief reflection on how
pop culture has been and will continue to be a major contributor in the
move towards a more gender equal society.
- Who Could've Known: This chapter speaks about the volte face that needs to take place in dealing with major issues. The almost 180 degree shift that is required to solve our biggest problems.
- Add $50 Trillion
and Shake: Basic
elements of five of the socio-economic reforms underwriting
Futuregrail are introduced in this chapter.
- Early Warning
Signals: There are
hundreds of signs that show us our environmental problems are bigger
than we imagine, and a few dozen bunched together give us a reasonable
indication of how big the problem really is.
- The Toxic
Saturation Effect: This chapter suggests that our problems are so heavily
inter-connected that it is more appropriate to consider the 20 or so
major green issues as a single issue and to address it accordingly.
- A New Kyoto
Protocol: Someone once
asked me what I would have put in the Kyoto Protocol and this chapter is
an extended and more involved version of the answer I gave to that
person.
- The New Kiretsu:
An abstract on a new
way forward for the green industry; a way that involves a lot more
co-ordination, co-operation and a touch of opportunism.
- By Any Other Name:
This chapter contains
dozens of song lyrics that are relevant to the ideals behind Futuregrail
but is more of an entertainment or intermission than anything else.
- SOTU on a
Bubblegum Wrapper: This chapter contains dozens of quotes from movies that are
relevant to the ideals behind Futuregrail but is more of an
entertainment or intermission than anything else.
- Zarathustra's Wake: This chapter contains over one hundred literary quotations that re-iterate the many messages and ideas put forward in The Futuregrail.
- A Light Green
Fairytale: A tale of
what might happen over the next 60 years if the most ideal circumstances
present themselves.
- A Dark Green
Fairytale: An
entertaining story that includes environmental action, murder, attempted
murder, Machiavellian antics, revenge, and a few other little things.
- The Many Paths:
This chapter contains
four brief fictions on the direction society may head in the next 100
years
- Bits and Pieces:
This is as it
suggests. There are eleven separate abstracts/reflections on different and
unrelated matters; Non-violence, Intellectual Force, Utilitarianism, Homelessness, Party Politics, Carbon Dioxide, Truthful Deception (a sociological
principle), Whaling, Power of Focus, Spirituality, and Abortion.
